On October 26, I went to work in the afternoon on a stress-free job that I loved. In the early evening I stopped on the way home at the grocery store, got home, changed my clothes, read the mail and sat down to read the paper and it hit me out of the blue! Pain down my arm, crushing feeling in my chest, a headache, so I called my daughter and she said "Mom, call 911" so I did. Then I took 2 aspirin. The paramedics came, gave me morphine & something under my tongue and took me to the hospital. They called in a heart doctor and he said I had a leaky valve which caused my symptoms and asked which hospital I wanted to go to and I immediately said "Cleveland Clinic". They arranged it but, due to the hospital being full, they had no beds. So, on the Saturday following, they transported me to the clinic and on November 6, 1999, they did open heart surgery and replaced the aortic valve. I have had regular checkups every year and I am doing fine. I am on a regimen of aspirin. Please listen to your doctor when he says you need to take aspirin. IT WORKS!! God Bless.
