At the age of 75 while on a business trip to Canada, I suffered a heart attack. Who me? I who had always exercised, ate healthy my whole life, had the physical appearance of a 60 year old and the energy of a 40 year old. Then, BAM! I was in the airport in Philly when the pain hit. I rifled through my bag, found some Bayer Aspirin, and chewed three of them. The pain subsided. The next morning while in Montreal, the pain returned, this time with a vengeance. Now I knew I was in trouble. I was staying at a colleague's home and he drove me to the hospital, I all the while chewing my Bayer. When we arrived at the emergency room, the doctors there performed a balloon procedure to open up my blocked artery. I returned to the U.S. for open heart surgery, a quadruple bypass. My cardiologists told me if I hadn't used the aspirin therapy I would not be alive today. It is 3 years later, I am now 78. In 2008, my better half and I rode my motorcycle 9,000 miles all across Canada and in 2009 we rode 10,000 miles across the U.S. We also golf, take trips on our boat and just enjoy life. I once was told…to always carry Bayer Aspirin with me and to that sage advice I owe my life. I still exercise daily, eat healthy, live moderately, take my aspirin…as prescribed by my cardiologist and thanks to Bayer, I have a second chance at life. nnIf you suspect a heart attack, call 911 and take aspirin as directed by a doctor.
